Matt Nimmo  DVM, DACVS

Dr. Nimmo is a native Oklahoman.  He was born and raised in the south central town of Ada.  Upon graduation from Ada High School he attended The University of Oklahoma.  Dr. Nimmo completed his undergraduate studies at The University of Oklahoma in 2001.  He was then accepted to The Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2001 and graduated with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2005.  Dr. Nimmo accepted an internship in 2005 at Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, Florida. Following his year of internship he was accepted as the surgical resident at Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital in 2006. 

Over the next three years he had the privilege to work alongside one of the top surgeons in the country. Dr. Nimmo logged over 1,000 surgical procedures during his time in Ocala with an emphasis arthroscopy, colic, upper airway, and fracture repair. 

During his time at Peterson and Smith Dr. Nimmo also became proficient in sports medicine, neonatal care, and general medicine. Upon completion of his residency Dr. Nimmo took a position as equine surgeon for Tennessee Equine Hospital in Thompson Station, Tennessee.  While at Tennessee Dr. Nimmo completed his requirements to become board certified and became a board certified equine surgeon in 2011.

Dr. Nimmo then returned home to Oklahoma and worked in association with Oklahoma Equine Hospital for the Past 9 years. He has recently opened his own surgical facility and equine hospital in the heart of Oklahomas’ horse country.  His new facility is located in Purcell, Oklahoma and he is excited to serve the horses and the horsemen and women of Oklahoma.
